MEEK lace octavo with shield-shaped center. Handwriting surrounding
applied scrap of regal crown atop a cushion reads, gFain would I
place it on Thy brow; And crown Thee Queen of Beauty now! Inside,
applied rose scrap. Folded, small damage to two corners. 60-90
2. Lace octavo, single card with applied MULLORD lace panel; hand-cut
floral scraps, and a stocking; writing requests that mending is needed.

3. Two Embossed octavos. First: with applied motto and gold designs,
silver Dresden cherub inside, displayed through gauze opening, once
folded. Second: MEEK lace with applied rose, Dresden love knot, and the
written message, gI am truly thineh. 75-100
4. gA Token of Loveh. Layered collage in the style of McLoughlin,
unsigned. Interior applied scrap and printed motto, gConstancyh. 4h x

5. Unsigned octavo (4 1/2 x 7) -- embossed blank with applied panel of
gilded lace, bordered with multiple floral scraps. Central: large image
of a camellia. Interior motto. 45-60
6. Valentine Writer. The School of Love,
published by Mrs. Perks, London, circa 1810. Hand-colored
geccentric frontispieceh depicts Cupid as teacher to a classroom of
adults. Condition is worn, old repair to cover. Rare. 650.
7.WHITNEY W 2 1/2. Layered lace octavo with red silk fringe around central image of a young girl. 35-50
8. WHITNEY 1 1/2, using WOOD lace paper. Vivid yellow, daisies, and
green and red corner wafers, as were used by Howland earlier. 4h x

9. WHITNEY, W/3. WOOD lace paper. Applied wafers and scraps:
flowers, cherub, swans, and inside, woman with tussy mussy and fan, and
gilded motto: Beauty and Delicacy. Minor damage to reverse. 40-50
10. A pair of charming layered, chromolithographed octavos, probably McLoughlin, shades of peach and pink. One, with motto, Forget me not,
and letter E on top right reverse, the other, with a young girl wearing
a red bonnet, with the number 5 at the top right reverse and small loss
at left upper corner. Such letters and numerals usually referred to the
size and pricing of salesmenfs lots. Printed messages
inside. 4 1/2h x 6h. 40-60.
11. Unsigned, hand-colored wood engraving of a couple; tender poem
about parting and remembrance. Pencil dating, 1857. Once folded, in
poor condition, perhaps the result of constant re-reading. 40-60
12. Lithographed quarto, hand-colored, of an elegant gentleman in
afternoon attire, leaning upon a pillar, with steps and balustrade in
the background. Cupid flies above on the left, bringing a floral
offering. Poetry suggests that the ardent suitor awaits his Valentine.

he appears to be pointing in the direction of the church in the

hand, placing a ring on a ladyfs hand. Designs of flowers, cherub, a

17. WHITNEY 1 1/2 layered collage. Delicate lace with grape pattern –
central opening reveals interior chromolithograph of woman in a rose.

accordion hinges, corner wafers, and motto inside. Glue remnants on

20. Collection of heart-shaped love tokens: a three-part charm string
